Marcy RECUMBENT BIKEs Review
Understanding & Managing Age-Related Pains
We’re more likely to experience certain types of pain as we get older. Here’s what you should know.
As we get older, the wear and tear on our bodies start to add up. That wear and tear can lead to conditions like osteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis is caused by the breakdown of the protective cartilage between bones, resulting in the bones rubbing together causing joint pain. It affects some 27 million Americans 11.
.
How to manage: Low-impact exercises like yoga, swimming, walking, or biking can improve joint mobility, reduce joint pain and stiffness, and support weight, Keeping off extra weight will reduce unnecessary pressure on your joints, too.
To manage pain stemming from osteoarthritis, over-the-counter pain relievers, and analgesics along with exercise can help with the pain.
The best exercise for osteoarthritis of the knee is biking, arthritis causes pain and stiffness in the knees, and it may seem best to avoid exercise.
It has been proven, the right intensity and type of exercise can actually help improve arthritis symptoms.
Best Exercises For People With Arthritis
The best exercises for people with arthritis are gentle, low-impact exercises, like cycling.
Biking is also a good cardiovascular, non-weight bearing exercise that helps to effectively strengthen the leg muscles and stabilize the core muscles.
The repetitive motion of the knee, without constant impact, is especially great for arthritic knees since it boosts the production and flushing of fluids through the joint, lubricating it and washing away waste products.
A lot of people find running to be very painful on the joints, especially running on concrete or hard pavement.
Biking
Biking offers the same aerobic benefits and is easier on the knees too. Both indoor and outdoor cycling work to treat arthritis symptoms.
For people with arthritis of the knee, it is difficult to get up on the bike, I am also a sufferer of arthritis of the knee, and sometimes just thinking of the pain to get on the bike, I skip the bike exercise.
But there is a bike for arthritis of the knee like myself it is the recumbent bike.
Recumbent Bike.
You may be asking what is a Recumbent Bike, well according to a Manufacturer of the Recumbent Bike which is IMPEX.
According to their website, Impex began in 1982 and quickly established a strong presence in the fitness industry as a manufacturer of fitness products for many well-known fitness equipment companies.
Throughout the years that followed, IMPEX acquired and licensed several high profile brand names and began manufacturing products for most major sporting goods retailers. Today, IMPEX is recognized as an industry leader with such brands as MARCY, APEX, STEEL BODY, HERS, BIONIC BODY, and COMPETITOR.

There are 5 reasons for using Recumbent Bike.
1. RECUMBENT BIKES ARE MORE COMFORTABLE THAN UPRIGHT BIKES
The recumbent bike is designed to position the rider for optimal comfort during the workout. The back pad gives you crucial lumbar support, which can help you avoid low back pain.
2. RECUMBENT BIKES ARE A GREAT CHOICE FOR EVERY EXERCISER
Not every piece of cardio equipment is ideal for every type of exercise. However, a recumbent bike is one of those rare pieces of equipment that can be adapted for almost any type of person, even those with physical restrictions.
3. RECUMBENT BIKES HELP YOU BURN A LOT OF CALORIES
Just because a recumbent bike offers you a comfortable riding experience doesn’t mean you won’t get in a good workout when you take the bike for a spin. Once you start pedaling, you’ll begin to feel the burn in your legs and glutes.
4. TONE YOUR LOWER BODY
Burning calories will help you lose fat, which can reveal the muscles that have been hiding beneath those extra pounds.
5. BIKING GIVES YOUR CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM A BOOST
Even a small amount of cardio exercise each week can have a big and positive impact on your cardiovascular system.
If you are having a lot of pain and you want to or need to but are having second thought well the recumbent is just for you.
The recumbent bike places no weight on your upper body and keeps your back fully supported. While stationary bikes create a little impact on the knees
Recumbent Bikes are great cardio equipment for burning calories and can shape your lower leg muscles. Recumbent Bike exercises also help to keep the heart-healthy

My Thoughts
There are many reasons why as we age we tend to slow down and become more sedentary.
It may be due to health problems, weight or pain issues, or worries about falling.
But as you grow older, an active lifestyle becomes more important than ever to your health. Inmost health problems exercise is recommended to help in the healing.
Getting moving can help boost your energy, maintain your independence, protect your heart, and manage symptoms of illness or pain as well as your weight.
Regular exercise is also good for your mind, mood, and memory. It’s never too late to find simple, enjoyable ways to become more active, improve your mood and outlook, and reap all of the physical and mental health benefits of exercise

Does this bike have all the bells and whistles of the ones you’d find at a gym? Of course not. Does it get the job done? You bet.
The bike assembled fairly easily (you will probably need another pair of hands to attach the tension and computer cables, but it’s not a job worth the $80 assembly fee), holds my weight, seems sturdy and is quiet. The resistance setting does not have a lot of gradation (Just 1-8), so this probably isn’t a bike for someone training to be in a triathlon, but for something to sit in front of a TV and burn some calories, which is all I really wanted, it’s great, and you can’t beat the price.
Update: After a month of heavy use by a big guy (daily for around an hour) the bike is still holding up great. Also, I’m apparently more of a wuss than I thought because the highest levels of resistance are pretty darn resistant. My original review stands – if you’re looking for a cheap bike to get the job done, I recommend this bike wholeheartedly.

I can not recommend this product and praise the company enough! The bike itself is great, especially for a wheelchair user like myself, it’s been a lifesaver for getting decent cardio sessions in. It’s very high quality and we had no problems assembling it as it was straight forward. After a month we had an issue with a peddle so contacted the seller. We had doubts about getting the issue sorted as we were in lockdown so thought we may have to wait a while for any support. However, this was far from the case as the seller was fast to reply, more than helpful, and went above and beyond to rectify the issue. At such a difficult time for most businesses, I very much appreciated her going the extra mile, her helpful friendly attitude, and the level of contact from her. I am more than happy to highly recommend this product and seller.

Hi, I loved reading your article on the Marcy Recumbent Exercise Bike. It looks amazing in the images. I live in a small apartment and don’t have the room for one of these bikes, which is a shame as I know how effective an exercise bike can be. I actually do a lot of walking.
Hey,
I’m so pleased I came across this article. We are having trouble this time of year in the UK trying to buy gifts for Christmas due to lockdown. So we are having to use online services and I think this would be a great gift for my Mother, who is a baby boomer.
I will let you know how she goes with it and if she gives her own review of it.
Thank you for sharing and keep up the great work.
All the best,
Tom
Hi Tom, I understand your limited option when it comes to shopping, in the USA in some states we are having the same problems, I think this bike would be an excellent gift for your mom, it is easy to get on and off as I stated in my post I have a couple of friends who had fallen of the regular stationary bike so this would be perfect for your mom. Thank you for your comment wishing you all the best
Great article. I currently use a treadmill and have sometimes thought I would like to add a bike to my home gym. Until your article, I had not thought of the recumbent bike. I can certainly see the benefit as I age. It makes sense that this would be a safer option than a traditional stationary bike. You mentioned this bike is great for arthritic knees but what about hips? I have had a broken hip years ago but it sometimes still bothers me. Would this recumbent bike help be beneficial or could it cause me more pain? I will definitely give this more thought and look forward to your response. Thank you.
Been putting on weight since I stopped heading to the gym due to the pandemic. This looks like a handy piece of equipment to shed off the extra pounds gained. I hope it’s comfortable for my knee.
High Kenny, this bike is built for people with painful knees, it is very easy on the joints of the knee, and it is very effective in working all the major muscles of the body, thank you for your time and comment.
