Some certain herbs and spices are not only excellent for bones and joints but are good for our overall health.
We will be looking at some of these today. Some herbs and spices will minimize inflammation in the joints that cause pain.
These supplements come in different forms; some come in powder, capsules, or the leaves of the herbs themselves.
SPICES:-
Basil, cinnamon, cayenne, cloves, cumin, turmeric, ginger, oregano, thyme, garlic, rosemary
Turmeric and curcumin –
Turmeric’s yellow-orange pigment, curcumin, is the main active ingredient in this super spice. Curcumin’s anti-inflammatory benefits are actually comparable to prescribed drugs as well as over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medicines like Advil and Motrin. But, unlike the drugs, curcumin is not toxic at all.
In researching this post, I have found out that Curcumin decreases inflammation and oxidation in the brain. This spice also speeds up the recovery time from strokes as well.
Turmeric and its active ingredient, curcumin, are highly effective against diseases like irritable bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s, and arthritis. Turmeric also improves liver function, lowers homocysteine, and prevents heart disease.
It is said that Curcumin is more effective in slowing down the development of Alzheimer’s disease than many medications because it decreases inflammation and oxidation in the brain.
Curcumin is also said to speed up the recovery time from strokes as well. Most importantly, turmeric is one of the most potent anti-cancer spices that help protect you. Turmeric and its derivatives are currently being studied in alternative cancer treatments.
BASIL
BASIL:-Basil is a very effective anti-inflammatory herb with extraordinary healing benefits that work for arthritis, allergies, and inflammatory bowel conditions, to name just a few. In addition, basil helps kill harmful bacteria that cause food poisoning including Listeria, and Staph.
Basil is also an excellent source of beta-carotene, a powerful antioxidant that prevents free radical damage.
Free radical damage is the primary cause of heart disease, cancer, and many other serious health conditions and aging.
Because of its dark green color is an excellent source of vitamin K, calcium, and magnesium, which is good for the bones. It is also a great source of iron, manganese, vitamin C, and potassium.
Use both fresh basil and dried basil generously in your foods to maximize their benefits.
GINGER:-
Ginger is potent for your health! Ginger contains over 25 different antioxidants, making it extremely effective at fighting free radicals in many-body systems.
Ginger is best known for its ability to reduce nausea and vomiting, as well as motion sickness.
And because ginger does not have harmful side effects like many drugs, it is perfect for nausea from pregnancy.
It is noted that studies actually show that just 1 gram of ginger before surgery is more effective than the standard anti-nausea medication given for post-surgical nausea and vomiting.
Ginger is also a soothing remedy for sore throats from colds and flu because of its antiviral properties. Ginger also helps coughs and is an effective expectorant.
Because ginger is such a strong anti-inflammatory, it helps reduce the pain and swelling of arthritis and muscle aches.
It is suggested that ginger also fights cancer, reduces cholesterol, and prevents blood clots that lead to strokes or heart disease.
CINNAMON:–
This ancient spice has one of the highest antioxidant levels of any spice.
Cinnamon is highly effective at helping to stabilize blood sugar levels, making it very effective for those with diabetes (type 1 and type 2). In one study of people with type 2 diabetes,
It is suggested that just two teaspoons a day reduced blood sugar by as much as 20-30% and lowered LDL cholesterol and triglyceride levels.
Cinnamon also has powerful anti-inflammatory properties and helps relieve pain and stiffness in muscles and joints, including arthritis.
Cinnamon has a positive effect on brain function, and smelling cinnamon, or chewing cinnamon-flavored gum, can help improve memory and attention.
Cinnamon also reduces inflammation in blood vessels that leads to atherosclerosis and heart disease and has antifungal and antibacterial properties.
CLOVES:-
Cloves have a unique sweet and spicy flavor but also contain powerful natural medicine. Cloves have strong antiseptic and germicidal ingredients that help fight infections, relieve digestive problems and arthritis pain. One of the cloves’ best-known uses is its ability to relieve tooth and gum pain.
The oil in cloves kills bacteria and is very effective when applied to scrapes, cuts, fungal infections, itchy rashes, bites, burns, or bruises.
Cloves also help digestive problems like gas, indigestion, nausea, and vomiting and eliminate harmful parasites, bacteria, and fungus in the digestive system.
GARLIC:-
Garlic has been used throughout recorded history for both medicinal and culinary purposes. The garlic bulb is divided into sections called cloves.
Garlic is one of the most valuable and versatile foods on the planet. Garlic belongs to the Allium family of vegetables, including onions, chives, shallots, and leeks.
Garlic promotes the well-being of the heart and immune systems with antioxidant properties and helps maintain healthy blood circulation. One of garlic’s most potent health benefits includes the ability to enhance the body’s immune cell activity.
Garlic has germanium in it. Germanium is an anti-cancer agent, and garlic has more of it than any other herb.
In lab tests, mice fed garlic showed no cancer development, whereas mice fed garlic showed at least some. In fact, garlic has been shown to retard tumor growth in human subjects in some parts of the world.
Another benefit of garlic is it helps regulate the body’s blood pressure. So whether you have problems with low or high blood pressure, garlic can help equalize it.
Garlic helps strengthen your body’s defenses against allergies, helps loosen plaque from the artery walls, helps regulate your blood sugar levels, and is the best choice for killing and expelling parasites such as pinworms from the human body.
In addition to all these health benefits, garlic is packed with vitamins and nutrients. Some of these include protein, potassium, Vitamins A, B, B2, calcium, zinc, and many others. (helps to promote healthy bones
Cayenne:-
This hot spice not only heats your dishes but also heats your body and raises your metabolism, helping you burn fat faster.
Cayenne reduces LDL blood cholesterol, triglyceride levels and decreases the formation of harmful blood clots, all of which prevent heart attacks and strokes.
And, cayenne is a very effective anti-inflammatory and pain remedy for everything from headaches to arthritis and sore muscles and clearing nasal congestion and boosting immunity.
Rosemary:-
Rosemary contains active ingredients that are potent antioxidants as well as anti-inflammatory agents.
Rosemary is highly effective for respiratory problems, including asthma, chest congestion, and respiratory infections.
EASY EXERCISE:-
Stand tall with your feet together, and brace your core. From here—– holding on to a wall, counter or sturdy chair for balance if necessary, step one foot in front of you so that your front foot’s heel is against your back foot’s toe.
Your feet should be in a straight line. Imagine you are standing on a tightrope or balance beam. Hold this position for 30 seconds or as long as you can, then switch your feet and repeat the position. Remember everything in moderation.

It is incredible what the correct spices can do to improve our health. If we could pay attention to what we eat, prepare our own meals instead of fast foods, use the correct ingredients and the right amount, we could easily improve our overall health.
Thank you for your comment Ruben and Yes the fast foods are killing us slowly but surely I know we sometimes do not have time but we can plan ahead and prepare our meals ourselves. I know that is hard to do especially if we have kids but we just have to try to cut down on the fast foods as much as possible.

Hey Ruth, this is a very good extensive list of spices – all of which I have in my own cupboard. I eat a lot of garlic. I always knew it was good for heart health, I didn’t know it could stop the growth of tumors! That is amazing. Also I have been very nauseous lately, and I have some ginger powder in my cupboard but I don’t know how to properly take it for my queasiness? Any advice on proper ways to inject these cloves other than cooking? Like as a daily supplement what would be the best way to take these spices?
Hi Sophia it is good that you eat a lot of garlic I am from the Carribean and we tend to use a lot of spice and herbs in regards to the ginger powder I have never use the ginger powder I usually cut a piece of ginger about an inch and either grate or crush it and bring to boiling cup of water strain and sweeten I usually use honey there is also ginger in tea bags where you just use like any other tea bag. You could try to put a teaspoon full of the powder in a cup of water let it sit for a while strain and sweeten.
Thanks Ruth for this very informative and useful post! I am using almost all these spices!
The content of your post is good! You have applied all 5 readability techniques! Well done!
Thank you, Balsam for your great comment I happy to know you are using spices, I am from the Carribean myself so I tend to use a lot of spices however I did not realize the benefits in using them until I started researching them for this article.
